My 1-Year Website Anniversary! Is it time we build yours?
About a year ago I released my website! I actually can’t believe it’s already been a full year that www.leighgaymojones.com I have been sharing my artistic journey with you, and bringing you the latest in my creative trainings, adventures and opinions. If you have been paying attention, you may have noticed that journey has been anything but linear, and constantly continues to be renegotiated and remapped. My website has served as my personal platform to work through all these bends in the road, and invite witnesses/companions to join me along the way. When I started this website, I thought I was just trying to “professionalize” my work, whatever that was. But it has turned out to be an incredible way for me to build community, promote other exciting artists, try out artistic ideas, and recruit creative collaborators. So thank you for participating in this public experiment that is one part professional marketing, one part personal diary, one part cyber community building, and one part creative play.
On this 1-year anniversary of the birth of my website, perhaps it’s time you begin yours! And I can help! About 6 months before the release of this website, I began building it on my own. I figured, how hard could it be? Well, it was a little hard, but it was a lot of fun! Since completing my own website, I have designed or re-designed several for other artists, and my client base is expanding. I am currently completing a design for a dancer/choreographer, and in the middle of designs for a medical entrepreneur, a numerologist and a visual artist. Visit my web design page to see my latest designs. Check back next month to see even more designs!
There was a moment in taking on some of my first clients, when I thought… “what does web design have to do with community dance”? And I suppose it doesn’t exactly have anything to do with community dance, but in the process of pursuing the things that have made me happy – dance, community building, youth development, farming, and now, web design – I have uncovered a common theme that grounds my interests. I am inspired by supporting people to see their own greatness. And I am excited to encourage people to share their gifts with others, whether that is through performing for their communities, growing food for their communities, sharing their website with their communities or simply increasing their ability to see their own gifts.
If you are interested in building a website for a business, an artistic practice, a public blog, or some other creative use, I would be happy to work with you to craft a design that represents you, reflects your business or practice, and encourages others to engage with you. Feel free to reach out for more information!
